The lifting of sanctions of the West against Putin’s Russia will be justified only after a comprehensive implementation of the Minsk agreements by the aggressor state. The President Petro Poroshenko said at a joint with the President of Finland Sauli Niinistö press conference, commenting at the request of journalists the words of the American leader Donald trump about a possible lifting of sanctions against Russia, the correspondent of ЛІГА.net.
“Ukraine is very grateful to the United States for sanctions against Russia, and we see no reason for it to be canceled. We will be very happy, if Europe and America will cancel its sanctions if Russia will fulfill the Minsk agreement, because Russia violates international law. The annexation of Crimea, destabilizing the situation in Eastern Ukraine… and therefore very easy to explain (the continuation of the sanctions – ed.)”, he said.
According to the President, only in December 2016 killed 22 soldiers APU, and Russian aggression is more than 2.5 thousand Ukrainian soldiers, and seven thousand civilians.
“And the only effective tool is sanctions in order to motivate the President of Russia and to achieve implementation of the Minsk agreements” – said Poroshenko.

In turn, the President of Finland, said: “I think we all share that says President Poroshenko. It would be nice to be able to lift the sanctions, but so far this requires the implementation of the Minsk agreements. As for what you mentioned: the sanctions were applied due to the annexation of the Crimea and the situation in the Donbass, not because of terrorism. So I don’t see any connection between these events”.
Niinistö said he does not believe that the United States will change its decision on sanctions against Russia.
“But the sanctions of the European Union and of the States is different sanctions. They make their own decisions, and as a state in the European Union, Finland respects the decision of the EU because we are one of those who take these decisions,” he concluded.
