Prime Minister of Moldova Pavel Filip and the leader of the separatists in Transnistria Vadim Krasnoselsky November 18 officially opened to traffic the bridge over the Dniester in the area of the villages of Gura Bicului and Bull. It is reported Newsmaker.

It was originally planned that the traffic on the bridge will begin on November 20. The decision to make it immediately Philip and Krasnosel made directly on the bridge where they first met each other and for quite a long time seeing eye to eye.

Pavel Filip called the opening of the bridge “symbolic event.” “The bridge is a symbol of unification and it is good. For us it is very important. I welcome this pragmatic approach. Today you can rejoice: this bridge is the next step to removing obstacles to the free movement of people, transport, services. This bridge is a key link that provides a link between Chisinau and Tiraspol, part of the international highway M14. I hope that other important decisions will follow,” said the Moldovan Premier.

Krasnosel’skii, commenting on the decision to open the bridge, said that it was “just common sense”: “the Bridge connects the right and left Bank, combines logistics economic relations. It is interesting for economic actors, interesting population.”

In the opening ceremony of the bridge was attended by the ambassadors of Russia, USA and Ukraine to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin, James Pettit and John Hnatyshyn, head of the EU delegation Peter Mihalka, head of the OSCE mission in Chisinau Michael Scanlan, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Gheorghe Balan, members of the joint control Commission (headed by a peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester river).

The bridge between the villages of Gura Bicului and the Bull is on the international highway M14, which is a common part of the IX pan-European transport corridor (Brest-Chisinau-Odessa). During the fighting on the Dniester in 1992, he was blown up. In the early 2000s, the bridge was restored, but it has not been opened, remaining a symbol of inability to negotiate the two banks. The question of the opening of traffic across the bridge recent years always been listed in the agenda of the talks between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
