Russian President Vladimir Putin bears personal responsibility for the pressure on the Syrian President to prevent with its new chemical attacks. This was stated by the speaker of the U.S. State Department’s Heather Nauert, reports UKRINFORM.
“We saw it – President Putin – embraces Bashar al-Assad. You know how we treat the chemical attacks that were against innocent civilians in Syria… I think these arms are proof that Vladimir Putin bears some responsibility for trying to help, for creating pressure on the government of Bashar al-Assad, so he doesn’t do it (chemical attacks – ed.) again,” said Neuert.
She noted that “such a warm embrace” means that the Russian President should have influence on the leader of the Syrian regime.
On 18 November the Russian delegation at the UN blocked the UN security Council resolution renewing the mandate of the Joint investigative mechanism the UN and the Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons (OSHS) to investigate the use of chemical weapons regime of Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian province of Idlib.
