Court of arbitration for sport (CAS) upheld the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) which stripped the Russian team from the Paralympic games in Rio. About it reports a press-service of the court.
“The CAS panel came to the conclusion that the IPC when making the decision [to dismiss the national Paralympic team of the Russian Federation] has not violated any procedural rules, the decision was made in accordance with the rules of the IPC and proportionate to the circumstances”, – said in a press release.
The Commission also noted that Russia did not provide evidence to refute the facts of doping.
On 7 August, the international Paralympic Committee announced the decision to suspend the Russian team from the Paralympic games due to start in Rio de Janeiro on 7 September.
Russian athletes, weightlifters and other athletes after a doping scandal was not allowed to participate in the Olympics in Rio.
