Currently laid more than 170 kilometers of the pipeline Turkish stream. This was announced by the Minister of energy of Russia Alexander Novak.
The head of the Russian Ministry of energy recall that in may this year on the Russian coast of the Black sea began the construction of the offshore portion of the pipeline. “At the moment, is laid over 170 kilometers of the pipeline,” said Novak.
In his words, Turkish stream “is designed to increase gas supply to Turkey and to diversify gas supplies to Europe.”
Earlier it was reported that Gazprom quietly began laying the second leg of the Turkish stream gas pipeline for transit of gas to Europe.
Turkish stream has become a substitute for stopped by the Gazprom project South stream. It provided for the construction of the pipe under the Black sea to Bulgaria. But the project fell through, and already imported in Bulgaria, the pipe was to be used for the project Turkish stream. The latter involves the construction of bypass Ukraine two pipelines throughput capacity up to 15.75 billion cubic meters each, one for Turkey, one for transit to Europe. But yet signed the intergovernmental agreement with Turkey on gas supplies on the first stretch of pipe.
