Russian service for Hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring, published data indicate a high level of radioactive contamination in the southern Urals. About it reports a press-Department service.

“From September 25 to October 1, the excess of the total beta-activity in samples of radioactive aerosols and fallout recorded all the stations located in the southern Urals”, – stated in the message of Roshydromet.

In early October, the Department has described the content of ruthenium-106 in the samples of aerosols and fall-out as “extremely high pollution” and “pollution”.

In the Russian branch of Greenpeace said it will send a letter to the Russian Prosecutor’s office to conduct an investigation of possible concealment of a radiation accident and information about the state of the environment, and the readiness of the monitoring system of radionuclides in the atmosphere to new accidents.

November 10, 2017 in France, the Institute for nuclear safety IRSN, referring to measurements of the background scientists from several countries declared the radioactive plume over Europe, which could be formed due to the leakage of ruthenium-106 at the nuclear facility in Russia or Kazakhstan.
