The ex-Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili was arrested on charges of illegal border crossing and deported. This was announced by Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko at the 14th annual forum Yalta European strategy.

“Saakashvili will not be arrested in the case, Saakashvili will not be extradited from this country,” – said Lutsenko.

He added that supporters of the former Governor, who participated in the beating of Ukrainian border guards will be arrested. According to the public Prosecutor, they should go to prison for seven years.

To Saakashvili it is advised to go to court with the issue of Ukrainian citizenship.

Earlier on the sidelines of the forum, commenting on the issue of passport Saakashvili, Lutsenko said that he was not like any selective assignment of citizenship or election of his deprivation.

Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman to the question about the situation with Saakashvili said that the government will not apply any measures. The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine is working in the framework of international law regarding the protection of migrants, considering that Saakashvili is actually illegal in the country.

10 September 2017 20:00, Saakashvili and his supporters have illegally crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border at the checkpoint shehyni. Earlier it was reported that injured 11 policemen and five guards, who were ordered not to use weapons and force effects.

In connection with the incident at the checkpoint shehyni cause for questioning five people’s deputies, including Yulia Tymoshenko, detained five active participants in the events, one of them has been arrested.

Earlier, Saakashvili declared intention to visit Kyiv on September 19.
