Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office will demand from law enforcement agencies of Moldova extradition of the detainee in the Republic the fugitive judge Nicholas Chaus, since last November, is in the international wanted list. This is stated in the press service of the Ministry in Facebook.

The Agency say that the information about the visit of the suspect to the Moldavian territory was received in January, then the competent authorities of Moldova sent a petition for taking Chaus custody “before the request for extradition”.

“After official confirmation of the information about it (the Chaus, – ed.) the arrest on the territory of Moldova, Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office will require the delivery of the detainee to Ukraine for the implementation of justice in accordance with the legislation”, – reads the statement of SAP.

9 August 2016 detectives NABOO under the procedural guidance of prosecutors SAP exposed on a bribe of $150 thousand, the judge of the Dnieper district court of Kyiv Nikolay Chaus. He was not arrested or taken into custody, since, under the Constitution, has judicial immunity.

On 6 September the Verkhovna Rada gave its consent to detain and arrest judges. On the same day, the head of SAP Nazar Golodnitsky reported that Chaus may be in Russian-annexed Crimea. On 21 October it became known that the Ukrainian Bureau of Interpol has submitted a request to the Central office of the Department to announce a runaway judge in the international search.

18 January 2017 in SAP agreed to the request of the detectives NAB about taking Chaus custody till the receipt of the request for his extradition to the law enforcement bodies of Ukraine.

Investigation on the Leadership received a wide public resonance after the police said that the judge allegedly kept the bribe in front of his house in a glass jar.
