It is time for the West to lift sanctions against the country-the occupier of the Russian Federation, despite the fact that the Kremlin regime is sabotaging any implementation of the Minsk agreements on Donbass. Such considerations, says the Agency Deutsche Welle, reiterated the Pro-Russian ex-German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, who from time to time raises the issue of “futility” of sanctions against Russia.
“As for the situation in the Donbass, then I advocate a step-by-step lifting of sanctions, and not to all the time to think about strengthening sanctions”, – he said.
The former head of Germany believes that punitive measures against Russia, “as it has become clear now,” supposedly first hurt Germany.
“If there is an exchange of prisoners, if withdrawn heavy weapons – it should be obvious, and confirmed by the relevant people, then you need to come out and say: “Yes, we see good will and we want to encourage, step by step cancelling the sanctions,” – said the head of the Board of Directors of Russian state-owned Rosneft.

Schroeder also called for a “new policy of detente” and claims not to worried about the fate of the gas pipeline Nord stream-2 on the background of the uncertain political situation in Berlin, where can not form a government.
“I think every new German government will consider the project as economic and support it as well, as did the acting Federal Chancellor and the Minister of foreign Affairs. For this reason I have no fears”, he said.
Schroeder stands for “cooperation instead of confrontation” between Moscow and Berlin.
“The time has come, it’s time!”, he exclaimed in an interview with news organisations DW and MDR.
