The Ukrainian unit of the Austrian Rewe Group – BILLA – Ukraine looking for buyers for nine of its stores in six cities in the country. It is reported by the Association of retailers of Ukraine.
All BILLA are willing to part with the 28 thousand sq m of retail space, of which 4 thousand sq m shop in Zaporizhia already sold.
As the Director of GT Partners Igor Guglya, BILLA came to Ukraine at the beginning of 2000-x years, opening their first stores in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro. The greatest development of the network has reached a crisis in 2014, the year when the number of its stores reached 39, and they were in 16 cities in 9 areas of the country. Since then, the number of Austrian shopping retailer has been gradually decreasing.
For the last two years BILLA closed objects in Sumy, monay, Mariupol and Obukhov.
“Logistics for the company in the regions turned out to be very expensive. With this and the associated desire to sell its regional stores,” said LIGA.net the Director of a large food retail chain, who requested anonymity. According to him, Rewe Group plans to keep Kyiv chain stores.
Earlier it was reported that on the Ukrainian retail market was concluded a major transaction: the company Auchan Retail Ukraine signed an agreement to purchase assets of the Ukrainian distributor of the Caravan.
