Belarusian secret services claim that the detainee “espionage” journalist Paul Sharoika Ukrainian intelligence supposedly instructed to follow a number of objects in Belarus, in particular military targets of an aggressor state of Russia. This is with reference to the plot of the state TV channel Belarus 1 reports BelTA.
It is noted that during the search of the Ukrainian electronic media was allegedly found “copies of intelligence reports and assignments from supervisors”.
According to media reports, Sharoika and counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk Igor Skvortsov was requested “to provide information about the features of the customs regime in the part of import in the state (Belarus – ed.) means of telecommunications and computer technology, the presence in the border areas with Ukraine covering domestic mobile operators, the allocation of radio frequency resource, the state of Amateur radio among the local population.”
“In 2017 as part of the job they were identified such objects as the Council of Ministers, Ministry of foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Embassy and the military facilities of Russia in the country. Also in Minsk say that when they searched the apartment Sharoika was found “aliases for at least 16 participants of the network of agents”, which, as claimed by the Belarusian special services can use and “in the dark”.
17 November 2017, it became known that in Belarus on charges of espionage detained the correspondent of the Ukrainian radio Paul Sharoika. The KGB said that he is a member of the Gur, “established intelligence network” from among the citizens of Belarus, “who for a reward followed their instructions to collect information of the nature of intelligence in the military-political sphere.” Gur, the defense Ministry denied this information.
Belarus declared persona non grata by the counselor of the Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk Igor Skvortsov, who allegedly “coordinated” activities Sharoika. In response, Ukraine has sent one of employees of the Belarusian Embassy in Kiev.
