Sony Corp will join the struggle for supremacy on the market of virtual reality and will present on Thursday its own PlayStation VR helmet, with which a Japanese company hopes to beat competitors with more expensive goods and to restore its reputation of the most indispensable gadgets.

According to Reuters, after several years of restructuring Sony intends more focus on the development of such lucrative areas as video games, entertainment and image sensors for cameras, than on the production of TVs and smartphones, where there is a weakening demand, increased competition and reduced profits. The gaming division of Sony is now the only area that brings the most revenue to the group.

Helmet virtual reality VR PlayStation, which would cost $399 – the first major new product launch with Sony ever since the company announced the completion of the reorganization in June. It will allow the company to once again go on the offensive and will test its ability to compete in one of the most discussed areas of e-business.

PlayStation VR competitors on the market are virtual reality helmets Oculus Rift from Facebook Inc for $599 and Vive HTC Corp for $799.
