The balance of the single Treasury account in August rose by 17.08 billion, or 38.8%, to a historic high at 61.2 billion. This was reported on the website of the State Treasury service.
This amount is 2.6 times more than a year ago and 27.5% above the previous historic high reached at the end of 2015.
Balances on correspondent and transit accounts of the banks in August also increased, but not so much – 1%, or 0.47 billion, accounting for 45.3 per billion UAH on 1 September.
In addition to the hryvnia, the government also has currency. As of January 1, 2017, they amounted to UAH 33.4 billion, or about $1.2 billion at the exchange rate of the NBU.
