The Cabinet of Ministers has postponed indefinitely the publication of prices of natural gas at the level of import parity for the period from 1 October 2017 to 31 March 2018. This is stated in the Protocol decision of the Cabinet on 26 September, Ukrainian news.
The decision was made at the suggestion of the Ministry of energy. To delay the disclosure of price resolved prior to approval of a new mechanism for its determination with the International monetary Fund (IMF) and the European energy community.
Thus, from 1 October in Ukraine for the population and heating utilities continues to operate the gas price, set at the level of import parity from April 1, 2017 in the amount of 4 942 hryvnias for 1 thousand cubic meters.
According to the method of determining gas prices on import parity, established by decree No. 187 of March 22, 2017 October 1, 2017, the price of gas for the population, and CTV is expected to increase by 17.6%. This mechanism was agreed with the IMF earlier this year.
The Cabinet of Ministers continues negotiations with the IMF on the issue of changing the methodology for determining the price in decision No. 187 to prevent its increase.
The IMF has stated that it does not agree with the government’s proposed options for changes to the document.
