Preparatory meeting of the Obolon district court of Kyiv on the case of treason Viktor Yanukovych started without him. Lawyers for the former dictator’s demand to explain the procedure and bases for broadcast, correspondent LIGA.net.

In the beginning of session the lawyer of the accused Vitaly Serdyuk filed a motion for clarification of several points related to the organization of video broadcasts from Russia, where lies his client: this, he said, forcing “the proposed options for organizing video and ways to implement them”.

As stated by the lawyer, Yanukovych himself on video with the alleged Kiev agree.

The court noted earlier that gave her the opportunity to provide such a link.

“First, we ask the court to explain under what provisions of the CCP adopted a resolution on granting Viktor Yanukovych the opportunity to participate in a video conference, since we have not seen such references, and it is necessary”, – said Serdyuk.

Lawyers Yanukovych also asked to clarify whether this videoconference equated with participation in the trial, the room in which it should take place, which officials are allowed to be around and are there to attend the prosecutors.

Protection I wonder how it will ensure information security of the broadcast, who will personally check the identity of Yanukovych, will give him a memo and will receive the receipt of rights and responsibilities.

28 November 2016, the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko to Svyatoshynsky district court of Kyiv announced the notification about the suspected Yanukovych of treason. On 15 December the Pechersky district court of Kiev allowed to detain Yanukovych and deliver it to the court, 20 January 2017, the court gave permission for the correspondence, the investigation against the former dictator.

On March 14, the Prosecutor passed to the court indictment against Yanukovych. He is suspected of committing crimes under part 1 of article 111 (high treason), paragraph 5 of article 27, part 3 of article 110 (intentional complicity in acts committed with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine) and part 5 article 27, part 2 of article 437 (aiding in waging aggressive war) of the criminal code.

Earlier in the meeting, the lawyers of Yanukovych, said the head of GPU, Yury Lutsenko allegedly has the ability to influence the work of the court due to the presence of disciplinary proceedings against presiding judges.
