Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) – the Central Bank of Malaysia is considering a complete ban of cryptocurrency at the legislative level, but the final decision is taken, says Malaysian Insight.
“The guide that we will release before the end of the year, will include provisions for the registration of players, collecting of information and transparency”, – said the head of BNM Muhammad Bin Ibrahim.
In a conversation with journalists at the conference, the theme of which was financial crimes, he said that BNM will consider this issue until the end of the year. It was hinted that the final decision may not be so severe.
In response to a question about details of a new normative legal act, he urged patience. “It is October”, – he said. “Less than 3 months we will give you the details.”
Previously, BNM has announced that it will provide a set of legal norms governing the treatment of cryptocurrencies.
