At the moment of any decision on the extradition of the former head of the Odessa regional state administration Mikhail Saakashvili there. An extradition request from Georgia is studying the Prosecutor General’s office. It on a press-conferences were declared by the Minister of justice Pavel Petrenko, reports UNIAN.

“This is a legal process. To date, no decisions on extradition of the person is not” – said Petrenko.

“They only received the relevant documents from a country that asked for extradition from Georgia. These documents were submitted to the attorney General’s office, and the Ministry of justice of Ukraine. We have sent the relevant documents to the prosecuting authorities to implement relevant procedures in accordance with our laws. When these procedures are fulfilled, then we will take appropriate decisions in strict accordance with Ukrainian legislation and international law”, – said Petrenko.

He also said that talking about the timing of the consideration of an extradition request only after receipt of necessary documents of completion of verification. “In addition, there are appropriate mechanisms and appeal, so now to talk about some of the terms would be incorrect,” said Petrenko.

Police said today that Saakashvili is located on the territory of Ukraine illegally, but his detention is possible only after the “certain procedural actions”.
