The Supreme court of Russia rejected the claim of opposition politician Alexei Navalny to the Central election Commission, reports Radio Liberty.

CEC representatives said in court that can’t register Navalny as a candidate for the presidency, as the opposition has a conviction.

“The Supreme court does not find grounds for satisfaction of the declared requirements,” said the judge.

25 Dec, the CEC refused to register Navalny as a candidate in presidents of Russia. The EU criticized the decision, calling it politically motivated.

The court refused Navalny’s lawsuit against CEC 30.12.2017
