National public TV and radio company (NOTE) on one of the subjects of which – Ukrainian radio – works, detained in Belarus journalist Paul Sharoika States that they are not cooperating with the security services in connection with which the official Minsk has accused Ukrainian. This is stated in the statement published on the website of the public TV channel NTU.
“NOTE argues that it is with the special services of such a relationship that went beyond the official, and not cooperating with either one of them. Tasks and mission of a public broadcaster are different,” – said in a statement.
The broadcaster noted that in the two years of its work, the foreign correspondent of the Ukrainian radio Sharoika faithfully performed the duties of a reporter, the quality of his work did not give reason for complaint. In recent times, he has covered the media business the abducted Ukrainian Pavel Mushroom, the Minsk process in the Donbass and Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2017.
According to the wife Sharoika, the journalist was detained by the KGB for 25 October 2017.
“The lack of communication with Sharoika was discovered immediately, but only when his wife was asked to make her husband leave for “family reasons”. The reason for the request, the woman explained November 17, the day before arriving in Kiev – the lawyer assigned to the detainee by government agencies of Belarus, warned her about the “gag order,” – said in a NOTE.

The broadcaster notes that received from his wife Sharoika information was published on the same day, at the same time sending formal requests to the foreign Ministry, the security service and the Consulate of Ukraine in Minsk.
“The NOTE suggests that the absence of any official reaction or noticeable activity of the state in this case has its reasons, incomprehensible to ordinary citizens of Ukraine. Together with his family Sharoika broadcasting company hopes that in the near future the Ukrainian government will do everything possible to protect its citizen and return him home”, – said in a statement.
20 November 2017 at the KGB of Belarus stated that a man arrested for “espionage” Sharoika allegedly confessed to “work” to the Ukrainian intelligence. In the Gur of the Ministry of defense has denied this claim.
