The Council of the European Union adopted a resolution on the implementation of the new system of registration of entry and exit (EES) at the external borders of the Schengen area. This was reported on the website of the EU Council.
“The system of entry and exit will help to improve external border controls, better identification of persons who have violated the stay, and to strengthen the fight against terrorism,” – said the Minister of internal Affairs of Estonia, Andres Anvelt.
The system will apply irrespective of whether you need a travelling visa.
Now the Council and the European Parliament must sign the adopted resolution.
25 October 2017, it was reported that in 2020 the EU will have a new system of registration of entry and exit of third country nationals, which should speed up the border crossing. By using the new system will record information about citizens from third countries, namely the name and surname, passport number, fingerprints, photo, date and place when and where they enter and depart from the Schengen area or when they were refused entry.
