The Council of the European Union on Monday, 20 November, extended the mandate of the Consultative EU mission in Ukraine (EUAM) for 18 months, until 31 may 2019 and approved the budget for the mission for this period in the amount of €32 million reported on the website of the Council of the European Union.

The consultative EU mission to reform the civilian security sector of Ukraine was deployed in December 2014. EUAM provides support and advice to Ukrainian officials on issues of security sector reform at the strategic level.

The mission covers all legislation, including the Prosecutor and the courts, and law enforcement agencies, excluding the defense sector.

26 September 2017 the state border service reported that the EU will help Ukraine to establish an inter-Agency staff border controls.
