In the European Parliament was prepared, and the legislative resolution on introduction of Ukraine in the list of third countries for whose citizens repealed the visa requirement. About it reports UKRINFORM.

The draft document is based on the report of the Deputy Maria Gabriel, who still must approve the Committee on civil liberties, justice and home Affairs.

In the first paragraph of the legislative resolution decides to accept the position of the European Parliament, based on proposals of the European Commission.

In the explanatory note to the document, the Rapporteur reminds that the European Commission proposals are amendments to the EC regulation No. 539/2001 and the transfer of Ukraine in Annex II, which contains the list of third countries for citizens of which eliminated the requirement to obtain a visa for crossing the external borders of the member countries.

The draft resolution notes that the vote by the European Parliament in support of the proposals of the European Commission confirm the principle that each eligible country can obtain visa liberalization.

In addition, the abolition of the visa regime for Ukraine will confirm the sequence of the European course, which is based on the fundamental principles of the rule of law and international law, including the circumstances of the illegal annexation by Russia of Crimea and Sevastopol.

On 20 April the European Commission announced the filing of a legislative proposal on visa liberalization for Ukraine.

August 18, President Petro Poroshenko said that before the introduction of visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU remained “a matter of weeks”.
