The export of Ukrainian sugar for three quarters of 2017 increased compared to the same period last year by 2.7 times, from 161 thousand tons to 442,6 this was stated by the Deputy Director of National scientific center Institute of agrarian Economics, Nikolai Pugachev, according to AgroPortal.
According to him, this increase had a positive impact on the exports of confectionery products from Ukraine. Over three quarters of 2017, the volume of foreign supplies of sugar and confectionery products rose compared with the corresponding period of 2016 to 2.1% from 280,7 thousand to 592,5 thousand tons.
For the first 9 months of this year exports of Ukrainian products in this group totaled $316 million, 53% higher than the corresponding period a year earlier, when shipments abroad of sugar and confectionery products totaled $168 million.
“The geographical structure of Ukrainian exports of sugar and confectionery is characterized by the orientation on the countries of Asia, Africa and CIS, each of which has a relatively small share,” – said the expert.
He said that capacity-quantity and value of exports of sugar and confectionery products promoted in the first place, Sri Lanka (6.7 per cent), Libya (6,1%), Turkey (5,5%), côte d’ivoire (5.2%) and Azerbaijan (5%). Several smaller purchases carried out Sudan, Myanmar and Georgia. Together these countries cover more than 40% in the structure of Ukrainian exports “sweet products”.
