To the Day of Ukrainian writing and language of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine presented the heads of foreign diplomatic missions who have studied and are fluent in the Ukrainian language. This reports the press service of the Ukrainian foreign Ministry.

“We urge all who are interested in Ukraine, its history, traditions, culture, to study the Ukrainian language”, – said the foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin during a celebratory dinner.

He stressed that this will allow to obtain information about the events first-hand and appreciate the wealth of Ukrainian folklore.

The event was attended by the Ambassador of great Britain and Northern Ireland Judith Gough, canadian Ambassador Roman Vashchuk, the Ambassador of Lithuania Marius janukonis, the Polish Ambassador, Jan Hell, the Ambassador of France Isabelle Dumont and Chairman of the Office of the Council of Europe Morten Enberg.

It is reported that the participants of the lunch were treated to dishes of modern Ukrainian cuisine and they were able to share their own experiences in learning Ukrainian.

The day of Ukrainian writing and language is celebrated each year since 1997 on November 9, the day of memory of St Nestor the Chronicler.
