Foreign Minister of Germany, Sigmar Gabriel, was “very pleased” that Russian President Vladimir Putin “said that it would continue the negotiations on the requirements that in the past, Russia has rejected”. This is with reference to the reaction of the head of the German foreign Ministry says the Associated Press.

According to the German diplomat, Putin’s statement was his “surprise”.

“More importantly, this proposal for the UN peacekeeping mission in the East of Ukraine shows that Russia’s foreign policy has undergone changes, and we must not miss this chance. It will be good if we perceive it as a willingness to talk about new ways to defuse tensions,” – said Gabriel.

5 September 2017, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia said that Russia sent the Chairman of the UN security Council the tekeda alemu and the General Secretary Antonio Guterres the draft resolution on the deployment of peacekeepers on the contact line in the Donbass.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the presence of UN peacekeepers in the Donbass “would benefit the resolution of the conflict.” But then he said that in his understanding we are talking about “people who ensure the safety of the OSCE mission” and “must be on the boundary line and no other areas.”

Ukraine has opposed the participation of the Russian Federation in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Donbass in the case that the decision to conduct such an operation were to be adopted.
