The state office of public Prosecutor will appeal against the decision of the Shevchenko district court in the murder case in 2014, the journalist of the newspaper Vesti Vyacheslav Veremiya, the press service of the GPU.

The court found guilty of the murder of Yuri Rat, however, the Prosecutor’s office considers the decision unfair.

“As appointed Yu Krysino punishment is obviously unfair because of the softness, the General Prosecutor’s office prepares the appeal complaint to the specified sentence in connection with wrong application of the law of Ukraine on criminal liability and the discrepancy between the court-appointed punishment to the severity of a criminal offence…”, – stated in the message.

On 22 December the Shevchenkovskiy district court of Kyiv recognized the Rat guilty of assaulting a journalist Veremiya during the Maidan events and sentenced him to four years in prison with a probation period of two years.

This decision responded to the national Union of journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) – there is demand from the President Peter Poroshenko to give a political assessment to the decision of Shevchenkovsky regional court.
