Without a reformed judiciary Ukraine will not be able to realize their European aspirations, said the President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio. He stated in his speech on the occasion of the beginning of work of the Supreme court, the correspondent of LIGA.net.

“If you will not be able to reform the judicial system, you will not be able to realize its European aspirations”, – he said.

President of the European Commission for democracy through law stressed that the reform should bring the judicial system of Ukraine in accordance with European standards. And for this purpose, including to create anti-corruption court.

“I hope that the Verkhovna Rada majority will support the establishment of such a court,” he added.

6 October 2017, the Venice Commission criticized the draft law on anticorodal No. 6529, proposed by MP from the Bloc Poroshenko Sergei Alexeyev, and spoke positively about the project No. 6011, prepared by the expert group and registered in the Parliament by several MPs, headed by Yegor Sobolev.

On 14 November, the EU Ambassador in Kiev Hugh Mingarelli said that the Ukrainian authorities should be “daily reminded” that it is time to create antiquorum, and on December 7 in Kiev the U.S. Embassy said that Washington expects new steps in the creation of such a court.
