The construction of toll roads in Ukraine may begin no earlier than 3-4 years. This was stated by acting head of Ukravtodor Slawomir Novak, reports EP.

“First, we need a change in the law on concessions, together with the transport Committee (the Verkhovna Rada – ed.) we have gained. The current law does not allow to realize the idea of building toll roads,” – said Novak.

In particular, according to him, the concessionaire is required to have a government guarantee of traffic. That is, if the traffic will be less than that provided in the agreement with the concessionaire, the state has the difference to cover.

“This is a normal European standard – every toll road in the EU is built on such a system. If these changes to the law are adopted, I hope that in 2017 we will be able to invite to the negotiations the largest European companies”, – said the head of Ukravtodor.

“Then at least a year or two we need for approval. After the signing of the concession contract have at least another two years for the financing organization, and then designing and then the construction. So, I think that not earlier than in 3-4 years”, concluded Novak.

Previously Slawomir Nowak said that the funds for the repair of roads in the framework of the “customs of the experiment” did not act in full.

The head of Ukravtodor said, when there will be a toll road 25.09.2017
