The situation regarding the return of Russia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has not yet been determined, but it will be resolved after the holidays. This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Council of Europe Dmitry Kuleba in the air hromadske.ua.
“January will be crucial. The situation hung in the air and the scales may lean towards any side,” – said Kuleba.
He noted that three weeks ago, the lobbyists of the Russian Federation was convinced by her return to the PACE, but this time, Ukraine has worked with the diplomatic and parliamentary channels to bring the Ukrainian arguments and logic to the partners.
On December 15 at a meeting of the PACE Bureau approved the document on creation of a special Committee to explore the possibility to return Russia to the statutory bodies of the Council of Europe.
On 4 November, the standing Committee of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has refused to carry out an unscheduled debate on the lifting of sanctions with Russia.
