The Italian coastguard has rescued 6,500 refugees off the coast of Libya. It is reported by the coast guard on Twitter.

In the rescue of migrants, except for the coast guard, attended the naval ships of Italy and also of the court of the European border Agency Frontex, the EU mission for the fight against smugglers engaged in illegal transportation of refugees in the Mediterranean sea Sophia and representatives of humanitarian organizations.

Established in Africa weather helps to ensure that thousands of people once again embarked on a dangerous journey across the Mediterranean in search of a better life in Europe.

Only this year in Italy by sea arrived at about 105 thousand refugees, most of whom departed from Libya. 2700 migrants died in overcrowded boats.

The Italian coast guard since March began to record a sharp increase in the flow of migrants.
