Italian President Sergio Mattarella, has taken the decision to dissolve both houses of the chief legislative body of the country: the chamber of deputies and the Senate. This was reported on the official website of the President.
The report said that the President made this decision based on article 88 of the Constitution, having heard the presidents of the two chambers of Parliament.
It is also reported that Mattarella has appointed new parliamentary elections on March 4, 2018. The first meeting of new Parliament scheduled for March 23. These dates had previously approved the Council of Ministers of Italy.
Local media reported, on December 28, Prime Minister of Italy Paolo Gentiloni defended the activities of his office and said he will remain at his post until the election of a new government.
