The main arrival of the IMF mission postponed due to the lack of progress in the appointment of the head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeria Gontareva instead. This writes FinClub, citing sources in the NBU.

“The President has promised the IMF to make the agreed candidacy of the new head of the NBU to the Parliament, and now won’t even speak on this topic. No date of arrival of the mission – the compulsion to dialogue”, – said the source.

The IMF indirectly confirmed this information. “The President promised Lagarde (the managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde – ed.) make a nomination, and now he is satisfied with the resin (Deputy Chairman of the NBU Yakov Smoliy in the status of acting – ed.)”, – said the interlocutor of the Fund.

The source in the presidential Administration said that another candidate, except for the head of Raiffeisen Bank Aval Volodymyr Lavrenchuk, they did not plan to introduce to Parliament. Thus, according to FinClub, for the post of head of the NBU are considered not only the candidates Lavrenchuk and Smoliy.

“The IMF wants an open process of selection of the candidate,” – said a source in the national Bank.

Last week it was reported that the President Petro Poroshenko will nominate Smoliy on this post.

The main mission of IMF will not come until the appointment of the head of the NBU 02.10.2017
