Today’s elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation in Crimea is part of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This was written by the speaker of the Ministry of foreign Affairs Marian Betz on Twitter.

“Crimea is Ukraine. Elections – illegitimate and illegal. Results negligible,” – said the representative of the foreign Ministry.

Betz stressed that Russia once again violates international law and the laws of Ukraine, therefore, sanctions must continue.

The top leadership of Ukraine urged the international community not to recognize the elections in Russia because of the inclusion of the Russian authorities in occupied Crimea and Sevastopol in the Federal district.

Russia has occupied the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 2014. The Verkhovna Rada has officially announced on 20 February 2014 beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. Key international organizations, including the UN General Assembly has condemned Russia’s actions and called the annexation and occupation of Crimea illegal. Against Russia were imposed economic sanctions.
