From 1 June, the OSCE was left without a Secretary-General, since members are unable to determine the successor, Lamberto Zannier. About this reports Deutsche Welle.
Powers Zannier expired on 30 June.
57 members of the organization are unable to reach consensus on the candidates for a number of vacant posts, in particular, the head of the Office for democratic institutions and human rights, high Commissioner on national minorities and representative on freedom of the media.
In diplomatic circles report that did not come to a decision due to the fact that Russia and other OSCE member States disagree. But there were other reasons.
On 11 July in Vienna will be an informal meeting of foreign Ministers of countries-members of OSCE. Likely there will be able to reach a unanimous decision.
The most likely successor Zannier to the post of General Secretary called former representative of Switzerland to the OSCE Thomas Greminger.
