The Parliament of Catalonia approved the holding of a referendum on independence. Reported by the BBC.

It will be held on 1 October.

The Prime Minister of Spain asks constitutional court to declare the referendum illegal. Official Madrid considers that the approval by the Parliament of Catalonia this question – outside the law.

Now Catalonia has autonomy.

In June, the President of Generalitat of Catalonia Carlos Potsdamand already appointed a referendum on the region’s independence from Spain on 1 October.

9 November 2015, the Parliament of Catalonia adopted a resolution on independence from Spain, which Madrid was suspended two days later, as the Spanish Constitution does not envisage the possibility of any province of the state.
