Western partners of Ukraine should proportionally raise the price for Russia’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements. This was stated by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, speaking with a message in the Verkhovna Rada, the correspondent of LIGA.net.

According to the President, recently from different political parties, including the Parliament, that sounds like a criticism of the Minsk agreements. “Yes, they are not perfect. They were made in very difficult for Ukraine military-political conditions. They did not bring sustainable peace. But it remains an absolute fact that due to the Minsk agreements, we managed to significantly reduce the level of hostilities and casualties in the Donbass”, – he said.

Poroshenko added that since the last cease-fire, on 25 August, Ukraine suffered no combat rubbed in the Donbass.

“Due to the Minsk agreements, we managed to create a strong international coalition in support of Ukraine, to preserve the effective mechanism of international sanctions against the Russian aggressors. Finally, Russia began to be called the aggressor. Remember, in 2014 everyone is trying to avoid, calling it a conflict in the East of Ukraine”, – he added.

The main reason for the lack of progress in resolving the situation in Donbas, Poroshenko said that the complete lack of political will of the Kremlin.

“The ineffectiveness of the Minsk agreements is the lack of will of the Kremlin to comply with them. How would someone not want to pass it on to others,” he said. “But despite this the world we must continue the pressure on the aggressor and in proportion to raise the price for non-execution of obligations”, – concluded the President.

According to the agreements of the tripartite contact group in Minsk and channel four, from midnight on 25 August in the Donbass was to begin a truce.
