The current President of Czech Republic Milos Zeman is leading in opinion polls before the first round of the presidential elections scheduled on 12-13 January. This publication reports Hospodarske Noviny, citing data from the survey Center of public opinion research – CVVM conducted from 2 to 17 December.

32% of voters are ready to support on elections of Zeman. His main rival, George Dragos, ex-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, can dial 21.5% of the vote. In third place – a poet and entrepreneur Michal Horacek from 10.5% of the sympathy vote.

The elections are going to take part 69% of voters.

Earlier in the December survey, Kantar TNS and Median for Czech television Zeman was supported by 43.5% of voters, Dragos – 28,5%, Horacek 11.5 per cent. In the second round and landed, and Dragos are willing to vote for 45%.

On 10 October, speaking at a session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Zeman said he believes the seizure by Russia of the Crimea “completed thing” and offered to “solve the issue” with the payment of compensation to Ukraine. He later these words he gave his opinion, to apologize for which not intended.

18 October in Prague, was held to protest against Zeman because of his position on Russia-annexed Crimea, and participation in politics, former Finance Minister Andrew Babish.
