The security Council of the Russian Federation instructed the Ministry of communications and FSB until 1 June 2018 to develop additional legislative measures binding online game and social network to identify its users. This is with reference to the copy of the minutes of the meeting of the security Council, signed by the President of the aggressor state Vladimir Putin, according to Russian resource RBC.
In particular, online gaming, the Russian authorities want to equate the so – called organizers of the dissemination of information- Internet resources that allows users to exchange messages. In this case we are talking about game chats where players communicate with each other.
It is assumed that resources will be required to identify each user’s mobile phone number that is tied to the passport. A similar requirement for messengers will come into effect in Russia next year.
The desire of the Russian authorities to take control of the online game may be dictated by fears that the game chat is a good method of communication for terrorists and extremists, as well as the organizers of opposition rallies, said the media.
In October 2017, it was reported that in Russia created a special Department to explore the possibilities of blocking web-resources, including anonymizers and VPN services.
