The UN General Assembly by a majority vote adopted a resolution urging countries not to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, despite threats from the President of the United States Donald trump retribution in the form of a reduction of aid do not agree with his decision countries. Voted for the resolution 128 countries, 9 against and 35 abstained.

Major US allies such as Britain, France, Germany and Japan, voted for the resolution, some, such as Australia and Canada, abstained.

“The resolution is not binding and therefore, to a large extent it is symbolic, but the vote indicates the extent to which the administration’s decision to trump to challenge 50 years of international consensus on the status of Jerusalem contributed to the diplomatic isolation of America”, – writes the edition.
