The United States will lift economic sanctions against Sudan. This was stated by the speaker of the State Department’s Heather Nauert, reports Reuters.

The lifting of sanctions scheduled for October 12.

In the United States noted that such a step will help in the fight against terrorists and improve the humanitarian situation. Talks about the lifting of sanctions began under the administration of Barack Obama.

Sanctions were imposed in the mid-1990s due to accusations of the Sudanese government of supporting terrorist groups.
