The United States will provide Ukraine with “enhanced defense capabilities” to counter Russia-controlled militants in the Donbas. This was stated press Secretary of the Department of state Heather Nauert, reports The New York Times.
“US aid is purely defensive in nature, and as we always say, Ukraine is a sovereign state and has the right to defend themselves”, – reads the statement of the Department.
The press Secretary also said that this decision is part of the US efforts aimed at helping Ukraine to protect its territorial integrity and “to deter further aggression” but not pointed to consider the possibilities.

Earlier today, ABC News, citing four sources, the U.S. state Department reported that the US President Donald trump would approve the sale of anti-tank complexes of Ukraine, including the Javelin system.
22 Dec the Chairman of the US Helsinki Commission and senior member of the armed services Committee of the Senate Roger wicker welcomed the White house decision on the commercial supply of small arms, calling it a first step to help countries that are at war with the Russian aggression, which may be followed by providing antitank weapons.
