Confiscated from fugitive ex-dictator, Viktor Yanukovych funds will be used for the development of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was during a media broadcast military radio from the Pentagon the Ukrainian army, said the President Petro Poroshenko, the correspondent of LIGA.net.
“I appealed to the government and Parliament that changes were made to the budget, first and foremost, these funds were aimed at restoring the combat capability of the Ukrainian troops”, – he said.
Also part of the proceeds will be in support of national police and national guard, security service and state border service.
“The funds should go to the construction of a plant for the production of ammunition, the purchase of the latest electronic warfare systems, counter-battery radars, modern drones,” – said Poroshenko.
The President said that “it is important” to start the construction of dormitories for contract servicemen and hotels for officers on the territory of each brigade.
“It is very important that part of the funds went to the construction of a rehabilitation center for soldiers ATO, which suffered during the Russian aggression,” he said.
NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov said that the decision of the court on confiscation of illegal assets of Yanukovych, “fundamental”, as these resources provide funding for the state defense order, the subjects of the security sector and defense.
28 April 2017 the Council reported that $1.5 billion in the accounts of Yanukovych seized and already in the coming budget.
