Russia will be forced to leave the Donbass and the Crimea, because the world did not retreat. This was stated by former speaker of the U.S. Congress newt Gingrich at a meeting of the Yalta European strategy (YES) in Kiev.
“It seems to me that the world did not retreat. The personality of Putin is that it is almost impossible to act differently but hostile. The pressure will be stronger, will be more waves of sanctions,” he said.
Gingrich noted that Ukraine is likely to provide defense weapons, and therefore “all of this will increase the price of opposition to Putin.”
“First of all he will lose in the East of Ukraine, because the Crimea”, – said an American politician.
He also finds that aggression will not give Russia the desired grandeur, and isolation will continue to increase, the economic processes in the country to deteriorate.
“It doesn’t lead to greatness and makes them increasingly isolated. Maybe three, maybe five years to return East of Ukraine – there will come a time when the isolation becomes unbearable for Russia” – said ex-speaker of Congress.
According to him, the administration of President Donald trump hoped to improve relations with Russia, but Putin’s actions have dispelled such hopes for one month.
