130 million people in need of assistance to survive. This was said by UN Secretary-General ban Ki-moon in reference to the humanitarian Day, reports Al Arabiya.

In the UN General Assembly hosted an evening in honor of this day, which in addition to dozens of diplomats came as Hollywood actors and celebrities.

Deputy UN Secretary General Jan Eliasson said last year were killed with 109 humanitarian organizzati, 110 were injured and 68 people were kidnapped, the majority are in Afghanistan, Somalia, South Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

International humanitarian day was officially established in 2008 in honor of the employees in this sector who have been killed or injured while performing their work.
