The President of the United States Donald trump announced the nomination of current member of Board of Directors of the Federal reserve system of the United States Jerome Powell to head the Federal reserve. He said this during a briefing at the White house, UKRINFORM reports.
“I have appointed Jay as our next Chairman of the Federal reserve system,” said trump.
According to the us President, Powell has demonstrated his ability to reach consensus in the process of creating a reliable credit and financial policy of the country.
“I’m sure Jay has wisdom and leadership skills to manage our economy,” he said.
64-year-old Jerome Powell is an American lawyer, member of the Board of governors of the Federal reserve system on may 25, 2012. For approval of his candidacy must be approved in the Senate. On this account, trump expressed confidence that the upper house of Congress will support his candidate.
It is noted that among other candidates for this position also represented the acting Chairman of the Federal reserve, Janet Yellen, and economist John Taylor, who works at Stanford University.
