As part of operation Shield of the Euphrates in Northern Syria armored units of the Turkish armed forces have crossed the Syrian border and firing on the positions of terrorists of the Islamic state. It is reported by Anadolu.

The fighters of the rebel Free army of Syria opposed to the regime of Bashar al-Assad, as part of the operation approached the village Celije three kilometers from the Syrian-Turkish border.

The administration of Prime Minister of Turkey Binali Yildirim made a statement in connection with the operation of the shield of the Euphrates against the terrorist organization ISIS. “The Turkish armed forces launched an operation after a rocket attack on the area North of the Turkish province of Sanliurfa in order to protect the life and property of the population, prevent trespass. At 04:00 on 24 August, the Turkish armed forces began shelling the previously detected positions of the IG in the fight against terrorist groups,” the statement reads.

Today the Turkish army and the air force of the coalition led by the US around 4:00 started a military operation to liberate the area adjacent to the Syrian city of Aleppo, Jerablus region from the terrorist organization Islamic state.
