Turkey stated that one of the objectives of the military operation of the army in the North of Syria – to prevent the creation of a Kurdish corridor from Iraq to the Mediterranean sea. On Monday, speaking to reporters in Istanbul, said the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus, reports the Russian service Bi-bi-si.

According to him, creation of such a corridor would mean the division of Syria. “The aim of the operation is the destruction of the region by the Islamic state group and the intention to prevent the establishment of the Syrian Kurdish self-defense corridor in the North of Syria”, – he said.

At the same time, Kurtulmus said that Turkey does not intend to take part in the fighting in Syria constantly. “Turkey is not a country-occupier and shall not enter into a war,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that the Turkish military advanced deep into Syria, prompting criticism from the United States. According to Washington, the military actions have been going on in areas not controlled by ISIS.

Turkey believes fighters of the Kurdish defense YPG terrorists who allegedly cooperate with the group the Kurdistan workers ‘ party Abdullah Ocalan and want to assert control over the Turkish-Syrian border.
