The head of the European Council Donald Tusk called on the European Union (EU) in the near future to prepare legislation that could block the Nord stream-2. It is reported Rzeczpospolita, citing sources in the EU.

According to reports, Tusk sent the relevant letter to the EU leaders. It States that the authorities should deal with the draft amendments to the gas Directive, which a few days ago, proposed by the European Commission. These rules should be applied to all pipelines, including those intended for import of raw materials by sea.

Still in the EU directives was not simple interpretations for pipelines in international waters. This allowed Gazprom to boost the construction of Nord stream-2.

Earlier it was reported that Nord Stream AG-2 AG paid lobbyists $930 thousand for the help in countering the us sanctions.

Earlier, the foreign Ministers of Lithuania and Denmark criticized the plans to expand the Nord stream gas pipeline, and also promised to influence the European Commission for a stricter attitude to the project.

September 15 Vice-President of the European Commission on Energy Union Maros Sefcovic stated that the renewal of gas transit through the territory of Ukraine after the end of the existing contract with Gazprom is a priority for Europe.

Responsible for climate policy and energy member of the European Commission Miguel arias Cañete, has said that Nord stream-2 is not consistent with the objectives of EU energy policy. Now the Commission seeks to mandate the EU to negotiate with Russia on the Nord stream-2.

Project Nord stream-2 involves the construction of two pipelines to bypass Ukraine with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas off the coast of Russia through the Baltic sea to Germany.
