Ukraine and Belarus are ready to invest in the project for restoration of international navigation on the Dnieper river $30 million this was stated by the Deputy Minister of infrastructure of Ukraine Viktor Dovgan, according to CTS.

During the initial stage the Belarusian side may allocate $5 million, and Ukrainian – $25 million.

“We want to resume navigation on the Dnepr, Belarusian potash and oil products ready to go along the Dnieper in the Black sea and from there on exports,” said Dougan.

According to him, this Belarus will need to spend $5 million to dredging on the site of the Dnieper. With the support of foreign investors in Ukraine will allocate $25 million for modernization of locks and deepening of the bottom.

Dougan said that in the near future in Kiev will host an international conference whose participants will discuss the implementation of the project in the long term. “We are talking about a billion portfolio of loans for ports, locks, and the deepening of the Dnieper,” – he said.

Dougan noted that recently the Ministry of infrastructure has received approval from the environmental authorities to carry out these works. “Officially on paper yet, but the Ministry told us that it’s all right, dig, boys,” he added.

According to Robbins, soon, transport Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak will visit Kiev to work out a road map of this project. Dougan underlined that, according to him, in Belarus the project is on control at the President, therefore, the Ukrainian side has no doubt that Minsk will find the funds and execute the work in time.

We will remind, earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Belarus will implement the project on creation of port of the hub river in the village of Lower Heat in Belarus.
