Ukraine requests of law enforcement authorities of Panama to temporarily arrest the former head of the state Agency for attracting investments Vladislav Kaskiv. It is reported by Ukrainian Pravda with reference to the Deputy public Prosecutor Eugene Enina.

According to the official August 18, Kaskiv was detained on the border with Costa Rica after on Wednesday, he was refused entry to this country.

ENIN noted that the Ukrainian side is now in contact with the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Panama to address the issue of extradition of the detainee.

In 2003 this country we have signed an agreement on extradition, but Kaskiv is the first customer since then – neither we nor they still have not requested extradition,” – said Deputy Prosecutor General, adding that now to speak about prospects of consideration of the petition for extradition of the former head of the state Agency yet.

“We have 60 days to request extradition. (…) The desired time of the arrest Kaskiv before the request for his extradition to Ukraine,” said ENIN.

Now Ukrainian investigators have 10 days to prepare the petition for extradition of the former official. Then, according to the Prosecutor General, the document is transferred and sent via diplomatic channels through the Ukrainian Embassy in Mexico, in the area of responsibility which includes Panama.

Today Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko reported about detention in the territory of the Republic of Panama Kaskiv for embezzlement and other business crimes.
